The South Asia Regional Programme of the Housing and Land Rights Network based in New Delhi is looking for capable, committed, hard-working, and energetic individuals for the following positions and internships:
1. Programme Officer:
Location: New Delhi
Role: To develop, implement and help manage the South Asia Regional Programme of HLRN in Delhi.
Required Skills: A strong commitment to promoting social justice and human rights.
- At least three years experience in human rights, social justice or related areas, with a good knowledge of economic, social and cultural rights
- A university degree, preferably at the postgraduate level.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English and at least one South Asian language is essential. Knowledge of other languages relevant to the region will be an advantage.
- Self-motivated and well-organised, with writing and oral communication skills of a high order and a facility with e-mail communication
- Strong field research and documentation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, to deliver under pressure, and to meet strict deadlines.
- Willingness to do field work, and to travel regularly, including to rural areas, and to participate in fact-finding missions, often in difficult circumstances
- Ability to network, communicate with partners and do advocacy work.
In addition, the following skills would be beneficial:
- Experience living and working in the region.
- Experience and knowledge of housing, land and livelihood issues is an advantage, as is previous work with communities facing social exclusion.
- Computer skills.
- Experience working with the media.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

2. Research Associate:
Role:
To assist with and carry out independent and collaborative research projects aimed at promoting the human rights to adequate housing and land in South Asia.
Required Skills: A strong commitment to promoting social justice and human rights.
- One or two years experience in human rights, social justice or related areas.
- A university degree, preferably at the postgraduate level.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English and at least one South Asian language is essential.
- Self-motivated and well-organised, with writing and oral communication skills of a high order and a facility with e-mail communication.
- Strong field research and documentation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, to deliver under pressure, and to meet strict deadlines.
The Research Associate will report to the Coordinator and will work closely with the Associate Coordinator and other staff members.
- Willingness to do field work, and to travel, if necessary.
- Ability to network, communicate with partners and do advocacy work
